This is a space to connect with Indy Documenters Admin. We want to hear from you. This is a paid in-person or virtual assignment, and a space to: Provide feedback on the Indy Documenters program. What can we do differently? Work through assignment questions or notes. More detailed training on notes, audio, and live tweeting Getting to know you!

We will cover: Pre-work (30 mins)

  • Use the google doc, add notes directly to it, and get friendly with it!
  • Have a doc at previous feedback we’ve provided, any commonalities?
  • Resources: YouTube playlist, Best Practices Guide, Documenters Field Guide, On Assignment (length of the meeting):
  • Format
  • Use the Google Doc for collaborative feedback during the assignment
  • Cover people, places, and things. Topics like: money, human services, development, and transportation.
  • Hyperlink! Use credible (no Wiki), relevant, and accessible (no paywall) links.
  • Look out for questions that councilors, board members, and the public ask.
  • Aim for 3 pages of notes
  • Organize by agenda item as a subheader
  • 3-5 sentence explanation of each item (can be used for summaries)
  • Bullet points under each
  • Remember your rights! Indiana Open Door Law, Defamation.
  • Remember: Refrain from public comment when on assignment. Capture what is happening, and what you heard. You are the eyes and ears of the community. Editing/post-work (1 hour at most after the meeting):
  • Meeting summaries and takeaways
  • Three bullet points from your notes on what happened in the meeting. What should a neighbor know?
  • Top three things you take away from your point of view.
  • Remember: this is where your personality shines through! Share your perspective on what happened during the meeting.
