During a public hearing, eight people spoke in support of the nomination of Chief Judge Toddrick Barnette as the next Commissioner of Community Safety. The full council will vote this Thursday, October 19th on his appointment to the position.

The committee also approved a legislative directive requesting the Mayor’s proposal for a 3rd Precinct Facility at 2600 Minnehaha Ave S in addition to a site analysis, fiscal analysis, and a review of relevant reports and agreements. Mayor Jacob Frey requested the full council make a decision on the location by October 31st. However, nine members of the council disagreed and voted to delay the decision on the Community Safety Center at 2600 Minnehaha Ave S until the next COW meeting on October 31st.
