Central Indiana is home to over 200,000 immigrants who contribute $2.1 billion in annual taxes and hold $6.3 billion in spending power.

They also make up a significant chunk of the community workforce: 23% of workers in wholesale trade, 18% in construction, 17% in transportation and warehousing, 15% in manufacturing, and 17% of STEM professionals. Together, they form an intrinsic part of the region’s role as a logistics hub, its life sciences sector, and a manufacturing base.

Through this collaboration between The Polis Center, SAVI, and WFYI, we’ll explore immigration as it actually functions in Central Indiana: part of the region’s labor market, its neighborhoods, and its role in driving economic access and opportunity.”
